What happens if try to list an eBay auction for a pair of a polo shirts and a free pair of socks? Or three necklaces and a ring? Each of these items could be made as a new product with a specific eBay SKUs and Product code, but this would limit your flexibility for many reasons. For example, imagine what would happen if you had an order for one gold necklace, but because you only had your ‘gold necklace and ring set’ left it couldn’t be fulfilled. Specific SKUs are easy to manage selling at low volumes, but imagine if you were dealing with over 1000 different combinations. This would not only increase the complexity of your entire inventory, but would also cost your business due to missed sales opportunities.
Bizelo’s solution is ‘kits and assemblies’. When an assembly is purchased, Bizelo’s inventory management software identifies kits and assemblies through SKU codes. Pick lists are created to process the order as long as there are enough products to complete the order. There is also no limit to the number of assembly combinations that can be sold because each kit and assembly is ‘built-on-demand.’
SKUs for eBay Products with Variables
In this Knowledge Base article, we’re going to explain how to set up SKUs in your eBay system so that Bizelo can get your products and keep your inventory quantities in sync. It’s important to remember that:
- Every item needs a SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) in our system. If you have not put a SKU in your ecommerce system,we will create one using eBay’s custom label field.
- This applies to options and variations as well — if you have an option in your system, it must have a SKU assigned to it, or we won’t be able to fetch its details, quantities, or allow you to make any changes to those option quantities.
- If you have multiple stores that have the same items and are configured to share their inventory quantities, we are able to keep those quantities in sync as long as the SKUs match on those systems.
- If you plan on having product variations / options, then you will need to have the Advanced API enabled so we can modify option quantities and get the option SKUs.
If you have product options, for example, different colors or sizes, then you need to do a bit more work to get the SKUs for those options filled in. Specifically, you need to put the SKU in multiple places so that we can pick up the option details and fetch and modify that option’s quantities.
In this example, we are selling black, red and blue tee shirts. Each color is available in small medium and large. First, we need to tell eBay that we have multiple colors and multiple sizes. We do this by “defining” how your eBay items vary from each other by using a variation description and variation variable. In this example we are selling tee shirts, so we must define each and every color and size we plan to sell. First, we will define “color” and “size”.
1. Create a new listing and select “yes” when asked if you want to include variations in your listing.
2. Select “Add your own variation detail” to define your variations.
3. Enter “color” as the variation description and “black” as the variation variable.
4. Next, select the + button to add more color options
5. Add multiple variation descriptions if needed.
6. Click continue once you’ve finished entering the different options. Remember, in this example, we’re selling black, blue and red tee shirts.
7. Add any item specifics if needed and click “continue”
8. Now, you let eBay create your SKUs automatically.
9. You can also create your own SKUs in eBay. Select the custom label field (SKU) boxes and select the variations.
10. You can enter product photos on the next page.
11. You’ve now created an eBay listing with multiple variations.
SKUs For eBay Products Without Options
